it's the new friend!
here's some background information about her. it's not essential to know this for the story or anything (and what is essential will be on the pages, in the story) but I figured I'd share a few things!
young queens are the library’s protectors and ambassadors. they are, for all intents and purposes, field researchers, but since they're the only ants who leave the library long-term, they can take a more military-style role too. (like this one is doing right now, as a protector)
like young ant queens in real life, they are winged and can fly, but unlike real ant queens, they do not start their own nests. their most important role is to continue the succession of the existing colony should they be needed (in real life, honeybees do this).
where most ants receive and can broadcast through the “anternet”, the archivist and young queens can do more.
